Parental neglect?

[edit]

Where did the parents think their daughter was? Did they think she was at school because apparently they didn’t have any idea was missing until Patsy saw the ransom note. 2601:80:4100:2C60:ADAD:5138:EB94:C0C5 (talk) 18:06, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If it was early in the morning when the note was found, they probably checked her room and she wasnt there, i have to wake up at 4 in the morning for school and her parents may not have helped her get ready in the morning, so yes, they probably thought she was at school when they found the note (and before finding the note probably thought she was in her bedroom/school) 216.82.61.200 (talk) 19:39, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, it was the day after Christmas, so there was no school. If Patsy didn't yet realize Jonbenet was missing, she had probably assumed Jonbenet was still in bed. 183.89.250.246 (talk) 16:50, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's true 👍 Lgmaddens (talk) 16:48, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most 6 year olds don't get ready for school and leave on their own with no interactions with parents. Plus that whole Christmas thing 152.131.15.99 (talk) 17:22, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Investigation people not mentioned

[edit]

Just been watching these case on netflix. A few thing's they don't mention. To me it's a person that did this for the first time. Someone who knows them, there house has been there, invited in either as a friend, friend's from work or family. But the thing that caught my eye is the specific amount of money asked for. Wich is basically the amount he gets payed, from work as in bonuses. So im thinking friend's from work, that they have had over at there house as guest's a few times. That person mite have a boat or a farm to know how to do knots. That also have there kid's in the shows or same school as there daughter went to. But he has definitely been to the shows at that school or watched the video tapes while invited or as guest's in there house. Work friend's he had at that time that have been to there house, neighbours, people that worked at that school that have been to there house to, but family last on my list. Definitely someone they new. You would need to know the house. 86.12.82.143 (talk) 18:26, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was one of the neighbors... They would've had to know there way around the house and know where JonBenét was. The DNA was also an "unknown males. It was confirmed that it wasn't someone from her family. Who else could it be? The neighbor was jealous their daughter kept winning the child beauty pageants, so he tortured her, asked for the 118,000, and he killed her. The ransom note specifically said NOT to call the police and that they would get a call from the kidnapper (or kidnappers) for delivery instructions between 8 and 10 AM. Patsy went to the phone after she read the note, called the police, and they killed her. It also could've been a family friend who knew the house. This makes no sense.
If they killed her after Patsy called the police, that means the person was still in the house and they escaped going through the house, closing the wooden latch to the outside of the door. On the outside, none of the cobwebs were disturbed. Untouched foliage as well.
Do your neighbors know their way all around your house? In most cases it's a big no. 152.131.15.99 (talk) 17:20, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Strangling as red herring?

[edit]

In the autopsy section of the article it states that the autopsy showed evidence of asphyxiation, which means that she was alive when the garrote was used on her. However under the 'Family Member Theory' section it is stated that the strangling could in fact be a red herring meant to conceal other factors of the crime. This is completely nonsensical given the autopsy results and I don't think even law enforcement has suggested such a thing. I believe that this line in the article is misleading and incorrect and should be removed from the article. Alecgee (talk) 15:21, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancies and nonsense

[edit]

Christmas is a time of relaxation, family, good movies and food. The family was getting rich and in good shape. The motive seems completely nonsensical, completely nonsensical is a letter written as if by a group, but by one person, and I am not mistaken, by a man. The mother would have a really strange style, it does not fit exactly. I do not know how they celebrate in this area. But for me, if it is the USA, incredible carelessness. On the other hand, they celebrate in such a way that they get out of bed when someone wakes up and do not go anywhere, unless it is planned, rarely. After discovering the letter (?), the mother did not check if the girl was in her room, at home. She only called the police and did not say that her daughter had been kidnapped, but that we had a kidnapping. The father checked the basement only after a few hours at the request of the police and unfortunately he ripped off the plaster that was used to seal her mouth after death and carried the girl out of the basement. 79.185.156.160 (talk) 13:26, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
